Highlights Of Patagonia & The Glaciers-12 Days/ 11 Nights

 

With an incredible amount of lakes, fjords, glaciers, mountains and endless native forest, Patagonia offers the opportunity to explore a remote and moving landscape. Here you find National Parks such as the San Rafael Lagoon with its impressive glacier and the Torres del Paine, one of the best known National Parks in the world. Birds are abundant, including nandues (a type of small ostrich), flamingoes, condors, black-necked swans, eagles, among others. Walking on millenarian blue ice or sailing through the Argentine Lake. Not to forget: Enjoy the cosmopolitan cities of Buenos Aires, the “Paris of South America” and Santiago, with great restaurants, museums and sensual tango or folkloric shows.

 

Day 01- Buenos Aires, Argentina. Arrival and transfer to selected Hotel

Day 02- City tour visiting May Square, Government House, Cathedral, Boca District, upscale Recoleta area and pause at the Recoleta Cemetery where Eva Peron is interred., & Colon Opera House. Drive along the widest street in the world, 9 of July, to the famous Colon Opera House. Evening Tango show and dinner with drinks. Enjoy a special “porteño” music night at one of the best tango places, where typical songs and dances are performed. An excellent dinner with local wines and dessert is included. (D)

Day 03- Flight to El Calafate- Patagonia region. Accommodations at selected Hotel for 2 nights. (B)

Day 04- Full day Perito Moreno Glacier. drive to the national park Los Glaciares to see one of the greatest natural spectacles in the world - the calving glacier Perito Moreno. Gigantic pieces of ice break off into the lake, accompanied by a deafening thunder, forming huge blue floes in the water. From various platforms we will be able to observe the sight from close-up. If the weather is good, an optional boat trip can take you even close(B)

Day 05- Land transfer from El Calafate (Argentina) to Puerto Natales (Chile). Overnight. (B)

Day 06- Full day navigation Serrano & Balmaceda Glaciers with lunch.

Embark at a local boat and start cruising the Ultima Esperanza Sound. Sea lions, swans and unique fauna can be seen on this stretch before arriving at Balmaceda Mountain and the Serrano Glacier. Hike up to the North Slope. Lunch on board and return to Puerto Natales. (BL)After tour transfer to Torres Del Paine National Park. Accommodations at Hosteria Lago Grey. (BL)

Day 07- Full day Torres del Paine National Park with box lunch. start exploring the enormous diversity in landscapes, geology, flora, fauna and weather conditions of Torres del Paine National Park, without doubt a must-see for every traveler in Chile. It is one of the most beautiful and awesome places in America. Our full day excursion will include visits to Lago Grey with its imposing glacier, the Salto Grande ("big waterfall"), Salto Chico and the administration center. Short hiking excursions will allow us to observe various kinds of animals: guanacos, flamingos, ñandús, condors, among others. A filling picnic lunch will be served on our way. (BL)

Day 08- Full day French Valley tour. In the Pudeto area board a boat to carry across Lago Pehoe to the area of Refugio Pehoe at the opposite side of the lake. From there, 2 hours of a medium demanding hike to the entrance of the amazing French Valley, which deeply penetrates the mountain range from the base of Mount Paine Grande. Walking through the forest, and with the sight of the spectacular glaciers falling from the icy summit of Mount Paine Grande. Overnight in Torres del Paine. (BL)

Day 09- Full day trekking to Pingo Cascade offers the opportunity to enjoy one of the few really unexplored and virgin areas of the Park, natural habitat of the huemul and the puma (protected species). The abundant vegetation of the path allows this program most of the year, even if the climate conditions are not completely favorable. Box lunch. ((BL)

Day 10- Return to Punta Arenas airport. On the way visit penguin colony Otway Sound.

The Magellan Penguins return to this particular area every year to mate and breed. Additionally, you will see other bird species such as rheas, skuas, terns, oystercatchers and some mammals such as the pampa foxes.Flight to Santiago. Arrival at Santiago airport and transfer to hotel for 2 nights. (BL)

Day 11- Full day excursion to Vina Del Mar, the main seaside resort. Visit modern buildings, as well as the well-kept parks, gardens and Valparaiso, the most important Port of Chile. Stop at a restaurant overlooking the sea for lunch. Then Valparaiso, declared world heritage thanks to the picturesque architecture of its 44 hills, and their characteristic elevators, 15 of them still working. (BL)

Day 12- Morning Santiago city tour.  Afternoon city tour

visits Santa Lucía hill, where the conqueror Pedro De Valdivia founded Santiago, for a panoramic view of the city, while enjoying the hill's vegetation and the architecture of Hidalgo's Castle. Afterwards, visit the beautiful New York Street, the Stock Exchange, the Government Palace, and the main historical buildings such as the National Library, the Court House and the former Congress.

Transfer to airport for return flight to the U.S.
