South America Explorer 16 Days/ 15 Nights
Peru, Chile, Argentina & Brazil

 

Visit four famous destinations in Latin America, including two of the New Wonders of the World; Machu Picchu and the Corcovado- Christ, the Redeemer in Rio, plus Santiago, Buenos Aires, Lima and Rio! Santiago is a very sophisticated city, famous for its gourmet food and the best wines of South America. Enjoy the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires, the "Paris of South America", with great restaurants, museums and sensual tango show. Visit the capital of Peru, Lima and enjoy the atmosphere in Rio de Janeiro with Corcovado and the Sugar Loaf!

 

Day 01- Flight from Miami to Lima. Arrival and transfer to selected Hotel for overnight.

Day 02- Morning flight to Cuzco. Afternoon City and nearby ruins tour: the amazing colonial city built on the foundations of the Inca palaces, the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun, Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral, the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, temple of Kenko and Tambomachay, known as the "Baths of the Inca". Day 03- Machu-Picchu: Full day guided tour of the ruins. One of the most renowned examples of Inca architecture, Machu-Picchu is believed to have been built in the mid 15th century by the Inca Pachacutec. Surrounded by lush cloud forest, the citadel perches on a mist-shrouded mountaintop. Lost in history, it was not discovered until 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham. Many people also make the 1-hour climb to the peak of Huayna Picchu in the same area. Self-service lunch at the hotel before afternoon departure back to Cuzco. (BL)

Day 04- Flight to Lima. Full day City Tour & Museum with lunch. Visit Plaza Mayor to see the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace and the Municipality, the XVII century church and cloister of San Francisco, world cultural heritage. Continue to the modern residential suburb of San Isidro and to Miraflores, the modern downtown with a view to the Pacific Ocean in the Park of Love. Visit the Larco Herrera Museum, famed for its private collection of 45,000 pieces of erotic pottery. Overnight flight to Santiago, Chile. (BL)

Day 05- Arrival at Santiago airport and transfer to selected Hotel.  Afternoon city tour

visits Santa Lucía hill, where the conqueror Pedro De Valdivia founded Santiago, for a panoramic view of the city, while enjoying the hill's vegetation and the architecture of Hidalgo's Castle. Afterwards, visit the beautiful New York Street, the Stock Exchange, the Government Palace, and the main historical buildings such as the National Library, the Court House and the former Congress.

Day 06- Full day excursion to Vina Del Mar, the main seaside resort. Visit modern buildings, as well as the well-kept parks, gardens and Valparaiso, the most important Port of Chile. Stop at a restaurant overlooking the sea for lunch. Then Valparaiso, declared world heritage thanks to the picturesque architecture of its 44 hills, and their characteristic elevators, 15 of them still working. (BL)

Day 07- Flight to Puerto Montt and land transfer to Puerto Varas. Day tour of Puerto Varas, touring its streets and avenues adorned with beautiful rosebeds, the Phillippi Hill and its splendid Mirador offering a panoramic view of Llanquihue Lake and the Osorno Volcano. Continue southwards to the city of Puerto Montt and fisherman’s cove known as Angelmo and the handicraft market located also in the area of Angelmo. (BL)

Day 08- Full day tour Lake crossing thru Peulla, driving through the southern shore of the Llanquihue Lake admiring the beauty of Osorno and Calbuco Volcanoes with a stop at the Petrohue Waterfalls.  The tour continues to Petrohue to board a catamaran sailing the "Todos Los Santos" lakes also known as lake Emerald due to its vivid blue-green colored waters. Continue crossing the lake via a series of motor launches and motor coaches through spectacular scenery - snow-capped mountain peaks, gloriously green forests and azul blue lakes. Late afternoon arrival in Bariloche, Argentina. Overnight. (BL)

Day 09- Half day city Tour along the shore of Nahuel Huapi Lake and to the Campanario Hill base. Take a chair  lift to the top, to admire one of the most beautiful and fascinanting views of this area: see  Perito Moreno and Nahuel Huapi lakes, Trébol Lagoon, San Pedro and Llao Llao Peninsulas, Victoria Island, Otto Hill, Cathedral Hill and Bariloche city. Flight to Buenos Aires and transfer to selected hotel. (B)

Day 10- Buenos Aires City tour, visiting May Square, Government House, Cathedral, Boca District, upscale Recoleta area and pause at the Recoleta Cemetery where Eva Peron is interred., & Colon Opera House. Drive along the widest street in the world, 9 of July, to the famous Colon Opera House. Evening Tango show and dinner with drinks. Enjoy a special “porteño” music night at one of the best tango places, where typical songs and dances are performed. An excellent dinner with local wines and dessert is included. (BD)

Day 11- Full day tour of the countryside, visiting a working farm and the unique opportunity to have a close contact with the Argentine Gaucho, taste typical meat pies and wines, wander around the farm or ride horses. Lunch includes: pork sausage, beef with salad and  “pastelitos” a typical gaucho dessert. After lunch, the gauchos provide entertainment in the form of music, dancing and singing. For the daring ones, there will be time to ride a criollo horse. (BL)

Day 12- Flight to Iguassu and tour the Argentinean Falls, well known as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, a panorama of rare and exciting beauty: two hundred and seventy five different falls and the impressive Devil's Throat where millions of gallons of water flow through dense vegetation. Thousands of exotic birds, butterflies, flowers and exuberant vegetation. Next, reach the Iguazú River to embark onto zodiac boats for a unique approach to the San Martín and Bozzetti falls among others. B)

Day 13- Brazilian Falls tour. Walking along the paths you will get startled by the panoramic view of San Martin Island and the most imposing falls situated on the other side of the border: the Bozzeti, Two Sisters, San Martin and the Three Musketeers, among others. Near the end of the path, reach the outlook that offers an astonishing view of the Devil's Throat. Flight to Rio de Janeiro, transfer to selected hotel. (B)

Day 14- After Breakfast: Full day city tour, world famous beaches and the Sugar Loaf Mountain. Ride along the world-famous beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, circling the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and proceeding to the "Maracanã", one of the world's largest stadiums. Visit the modern Cathedral, passing by the Flamengo Park and the World War II Memorial. Scenic ride to the Corcovado and from the train station ride to the Christ Redeemer statue overlooking the city’s beaches and mountains. The grand finale : a thrilling cable-car ride to the top of the Sugar Loaf, 395 meters above the city, and a breathtaking view of Guanabara Bay.(BL)Day 15- Optional day tour of tropical islands on a schooner cruise or a half-day visit to Petropolis, a colonial heritage. Evening farewell typical Brazilian BBQ dinner and fabulous samba show. (BD)

Day 16- Transfer to airport for departure flight to the U.S. (B)
