Jewish Heritage - 12 Days/10 Nights
Argentina & Brazil

 

The rich legacy of the Jewish community in South America can be found in Argentina and Brazil. As a people, Jews have contributed dramatically to those countries’ economy, culture government and by creating institutions that allowed their heritage to flourish and their identity to strengthen. Our heritage program has been very successful over the years. It offers the opportunity to enjoy your vacation while learning about the local culture and people, the beauty of cities and relating to others similarities and cultural differences.

 

Day 01- Sun- Departure from Miami to Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Day 02- Arrival and transfer to Pestana Hotel, centrally located and close to the largest Jewish community in Sao Paulo, which was declared Tel Aviv sister city in 2004. Afternoon city and shopping tour. 

Day 03- Visit Club Hebraica, the most important Jewish Country Club in Sao Paulo, Bom Retiro District, UNIBES, a welfare organization, Temple C. I. P., the largest religious congregation in Brazil, among others. Evening dinner at typical Jewish restaurant. (BD)

Day 04- Transfer to airport for flight to Buenos Aires. Arrival and transfer to the deluxe Madero by Sofitel Hotel. Day at leisure in Buenos Aires. In the evening, special dinner, afterwards experience one of Argentina`s treasures- a unique and captivating show of Tango and Folklore. (BD)

Day 05- Afternoon visit to the Grand Synagogue, built at the beginnings of the century and the center of religious activity; the Jewish Museum, which vividly depicts the history of the community  & Amia District with its kosher butchers, shops, schools and restaurants. Dinner at a traditional Jewish Restaurant. (BD)

Day 06- Morning city tour of Buenos Aires including Eva Peron’s Tomb and the Colon Opera House. Discover the gracious sights of this most beautiful city, known as the Paris of South America. Afternoon visit the Club Hebraica Jewish Cultural Complex and a special guided tour of this vast network of schools, sports and entertainment facilities. Lunch included. Evening Shabbat services at the Temple Amijai followed by Shabbat dinner with other members of the Buenos Aires community. (BLD)

Day 07- After lunch, transfer to the airport for the flight to Rio de Janeiro and on to the deluxe Ipanema Plaza Hotel on Ipanema Beach. (B)

Day 08- Visit the hippie fair, where you can buy excellent handicrafts of leather, wood, metal and paintings of local artists. Lunch at the Bar Ilan School, the center of orthodox Judaism in Rio. (BL)

Day 09- Full day Sugar Loaf Mountain tour and visit the Jewish Federation, Jewish Museum which documents the history of Jews in Brazil, Rio's old Jewish neighborhood and the Congregation of Grande Templo Israelita, the largest synagogue in Rio. Stop at H. Stern Jewelers for an informative visual explanation of how gemstones are discovered, mined and made into beautiful jewelry. (BL)

Day 10- Corcovado and Tijuca Forest tour with lunch! Ride to the Christ Redeemer statue overlooking the city’s beaches and mountains. Descend and drive to the Forest, with a stop at Taunay’s waterfall, hike and see different types of tropical fruits, trees, animals such as monkeys and sloth and various kinds of birds and butterflies. In the evening, Brazilian barbecue dinner followed by a spectacular Samba show. (BLD)

Day 11- Continue the Jewish exploration visiting Colegio A. Liessen, the largest Jewish school in Rio. Afternoon free. Special farewell dinner hosted by a local Jewish group will be featured this evening. (BD)

Day 12- Transfer to airport for flight to the U.S. (B)
